Overview

An easy 3 day trip for families, friends and couples who want to stand under a waterfall, not just look at one. A private car and our driver meet you at Madurai airport or railway station and stay with you all trip. You stay two nights at Courtallam, at the foot of the Western Ghats, and see the Main falls, Five falls, Old Courtallam and Tiger falls, the Kasi Viswanathar temple at Tenkasi and the hilltop Murugan temple at Thirumalai Kovil, with Palaruvi falls across the Kerala border as an option. The falls are at their best in the Saaral season, June to September, when a cool drizzle hangs over the town. Honest caveat: in heavy rain the police close bathing at the falls, sometimes for days, and from January to May the falls can run thin or dry.

A tall fall in a rocky gorge about 8 km from town, quieter than the Main falls in the morning. Free. Bathing is only where the police allow it, and it is the first fall to close when the water rises.

The river splits into five streams and falls side by side, so the queue moves fast. Separate areas for men and women. Free. Monkeys here grab food and bags, so keep them in the car.
