A taste from your trip
Kanaka Durga temple on Indrakeeladri
The guardian goddess of Vijayawada sits on Indrakeeladri hill above the Krishna. Your car goes up the ghat road, and from the top you look down on the river and the barrage. Free darshan, with Rs 100 and Rs 300 quick darshan tickets at the counter if the queue is long. Traditional dress, phones and footwear deposited before the queue.
If it rains: Kanaka Durga is mostly covered queues and halls, so rain changes little. If the Krishna is high, Bhavani Island boats may not run: we swap it for a longer, slower temple visit or an early rest at the hotel, and watch the river from the barrage only if it is safe.
