Vagamon Meadows, Pines and Illikkal Kallu

Tall, straight pine trees on a slope, with soft needles under your feet. The ground is steep and slippery in parts, so wear shoes with grip. Ticket included.

Rolling grass hills with no trees, made for slow walks, photos and kids running about. Stay on till the light turns golden. Ticket included.

A pilgrim hill with a path of steps and stones lined with the Stations of the Cross, and a big cross at the top. The climb takes about 45 minutes at an easy pace, and the view is wide. Very crowded in Holy Week and on Good Friday.

A glass walkway that sticks out over the valley at the Vagamon adventure park. You get a time slot and a few minutes on the bridge. Ticket included. It shuts in heavy rain and wind, and small children who need to be carried may not be allowed.

A rocky hill near town with a small Murugan temple cut into the rock and open views to the west. A short walk up. Sunset is about 6 PM in winter, and we head back while there is still light.

A tall rock peak with a strange hooded top, one of the highest points in Kottayam district. From the parking you walk up a steep path for about 20 to 30 minutes. Do not climb the rocks or go past the railings. Ticket included.

A wide grassy valley ringed by hills, with almost no trees. Its name means the valley where no leaves fall. Very windy and very green after the rains.

A huge rock on a hilltop with a small Sufi shrine and wide views. Remove your shoes near the shrine and dress modestly.
