Girivalam drive around Arunachala hill
1 h 30 min hereGirivalam is the 14 km path around the sacred hill. We go round it slowly by car, stopping at a few of the eight Ashta Lingam shrines and at Adi Annamalai temple, and you see the hill change colour towards sunset. This is the easy way; walking it is below.
- 4:30 PM
Walk the full Girivalam on foot
Optional · FreeThe honest picture: it is 14 km on a road that goes all the way round the hill, with traffic on some stretches. It takes most people 3.5 to 5 hours. Many walk barefoot, but sandals are fine. Your driver drops you at the temple and picks you up at the end. On full moon nights lakhs of people walk together, so it is very crowded, and the walk is hard on knees and feet. Choose this instead of the drive.
