A taste from your trip
Gaganachukki Falls
The Kaveri drops into a deep gorge in a wide horseshoe. You watch from a viewpoint with railings above the falls. The flow is biggest from August to November and thin in summer.
If it rains: Both falls are at their fullest after rain, but the viewpoints get slippery and the Bharachukki steps may be closed for safety, so we watch from the top. The coracle will not run in high water. Talakadu sand turns firm and cool in drizzle, which makes the walk easier. At Somanathapura, take an umbrella and spend longer in the covered inner hall. In very heavy rain the police can close the falls roads, and then we add more time at Talakadu and Somanathapura and head home earlier.
