A taste from your trip
Vavar Mosque, Erumeli
Ayyappa pilgrims traditionally pray at this mosque of Vavar, Ayyappa's Muslim companion, before going on to Sabarimala. Visitors of all faiths walk in. Dress modestly and follow the mosque staff.
If it rains: Erumeli and Aranmula are short walks from the car, so carry an umbrella and slip on sandals. The hill roads past Pala and Ranni are slow in heavy rain, so we may skip a stop to reach Pathanamthitta in good time for your early night.
