A taste from your trip
Thirumoorthy Dam and Amanalingeswarar Temple
A quiet reservoir under a bare rock hill, and beside it the old Amanalingeswarar temple of the three gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Shoes off at the temple. Car parking is approx Rs 50.
If it rains: Thirumoorthy is the only open air part of the day. If it rains hard, the forest department shuts the falls walk, so we see the dam and the temple briefly and reach Palani earlier. The hill temple corridors are covered, but the rope car stops in heavy rain and wind, so we take the winch. Wet stone is slippery, so walk slowly and take the winch down instead of the steps.
