A taste from your trip
Panchamukhi Anjaneya temple
A small cave temple on a rocky hill across the Tungabhadra, about 20 km from Mantralayam in Karnataka. Tradition says Sri Raghavendra Swamy meditated here and saw Hanuman in his five faced form. Expect some rock cut steps up to the shrine. Free darshan. Approx hours 6 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 8 PM.
If it rains: Rain in Mantralayam is usually short. The mutt corridors are covered, so darshan and the Rathotsava go on. Skip the river dip if the Tungabhadra is running high or brown, and take the rock steps at Panchamukhi slowly, as wet stone is slippery. If the river is in flood, the road to Panchamukhi can be closed, and we spend the time at the mutt instead.
