Overview

A short, cool escape for couples, friends and families who land in Visakhapatnam and want to see why Lambasingi is called the Kashmir of Andhra. Your driver meets you at the airport or railway station, and you climb the Eastern Ghats through Narsipatnam to reach Lambasingi, about 1,000 m up, by early afternoon. Day 1 is gentle: coffee estates, a strawberry farm in season and sunset at Thajangi reservoir. Day 2 starts before dawn for the sea of mist, then goes through Chintapalli to the Kothapalli waterfalls and back to Vizag by the Paderu ghat, with an optional stop at Vanajangi hill. Come between November and January for the mist and the cold, as the rest of the year it is just a pleasant green village. The honest part: stays in Lambasingi are very basic, there is no star hotel, Day 2 is a long day of about 6 hours of driving, and weekends in December are crowded.

Thajangi Reservoir at sunset

A calm reservoir ringed by green hills, about 6 km from the village. Sunset is around 5:20 PM in December. Boating and zipline rides, when running, are extra and paid at the counter.

An early start for the sea of mist over the valleys, then breakfast and the drive through Chintapalli to the Kothapalli waterfalls. After lunch near Paderu you go down the Paderu ghat, with an optional stop at Vanajangi hill and a taste of Madugula halwa, and reach Visakhapatnam in the evening.

Kothapalli Waterfalls

A wide, many-step waterfall over dark rock in the forest. From the parking you walk down steps and a trail, which can be up to about 2 km each way, so wear shoes with grip. Bathing only in the shallow pools, and stay out after heavy rain. Entry ticket included.
