Only Hindus can enter. Men wear a mundu or dhoti, women a saree, half saree or long skirt. Phones and cameras go in a locker. Entry is free. Timings change on festival days.
If it rains: The Napier Museum and the Sri Chitra Art Gallery are indoors, so stay longer there. Padmanabhaswamy darshan goes on in rain, so carry a light poncho and keep your mundu or saree in a bag until you reach the gate.
