A taste from your trip
Teru Malleshwara Temple, Hiriyur
A Vijayanagara era Shiva temple on the Vedavati river, with a tall painted gopura and a stone lamp pillar in front. Free entry. One listing says it is open about 6 AM to 10 AM and 6 PM to 8 PM, so we come in the morning. Shoes off at the gate.
If it rains: Chitradurga gets little rain, but if it pours, the Hiriyur temple is a good covered stop and the dam is fine from the car park in light rain. The cave passages at Chandravalli get slippery when wet, so stay at the lake edge, and skip Jogimatti if the forest road is muddy. Check in early and rest.
