A taste from your trip
Sangama
The point where the Arkavathi river flows into the Kaveri, with wide sandy banks and rocks. The water looks calm but has strong currents, so stay on the bank. Our driver parks here: private cars cannot go further into the forest.
If it rains: After heavy rain the Kaveri runs fast and the forest department may close Sangama and Mekedatu, so our team checks the evening before. If it is shut, we go straight to the Bheemeshwari camp and you get a slower, longer afternoon by the river. The coracle ride is also stopped in high water. The camp's lunch hall is covered, so lunch and tea go on as usual. Rocks at Mekedatu are very slippery when wet, so stay behind the barricades.
