Ahobilam, Mahanandi and Yaganti Temple Trail

Walk through long lit passages under the ground to the Patalaganga end. The floor is damp and there are steps, so wear shoes with grip. It is warm and close inside.

A Vijayanagara temple under red cliffs, with the Nandi locals say keeps growing. Steep steps lead up to small cave shrines. The temple reopens at 3 PM after its midday break.

About 8 km up the road. The shrine of Ugra Narasimha is set into the cliff. Some steps, but no long walk yet.

The honest part: this is 3 to 4 hours on foot on rocky forest paths and steps, with steep, slippery stretches near the stream. Wear shoes with grip and carry water. Dolis (carried chairs) can be hired for those who cannot walk, paid on the spot. The steep climb to Ugra Stambham is not in the plan.

Three small shrines near the road between Lower and Upper Ahobilam, so the car takes you close. Short walks only.

Spring water flows from under the shrine into clear pools about five feet deep. Carry a change of clothes if you want to bathe. Bathing in the big pool stops at 5 PM.

Strange rock shapes and pools, about 20 km from Kurnool on NH40. Walk around before the light goes. Gates close around 6 PM.

Painted ceilings, carved halls and one pillar that hangs just above the floor. Shoes come off at the door.
